Selected applicants are required to pass a 3 minute typing test of 35 wpm or more, with 90% accuracy. Not all applicants will be selected to test. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by email to advance to the next stage.

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, processes reports and other legal information and documents for the San Angelo Police Department (SAPD); enters data in automated records management systems; provides information within scope of authority.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs basic clerical and administrative duties in accordance with SAPD procedures and City policy, including data entry, record keeping, and maintaining files. Receives, verifies and enters SAPD data into database systems; copies and distributes reports. Provides information and assistance to the public and others having business with SAPD within scope of authority; may collect fees and issue permits, and balance cash drawers. Processes reports, documents and forms; reviews documents and data for compliance and accuracy. Maintains the absolute confidentiality of all records and information. Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Regular and timely attendance is required. Other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; and one year of clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Licenses or Certifications: A valid driver license with a good driving record is required. Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. Successful completion of a background investigation and polygraph is required. Required knowledge of: City policies and procedures. Basic regulations governing the release of information from law enforcement agency records. Required skill in: Maintaining accurate records. Entering information into a computer system with speed and accuracy. Work is performed in a standard office environment.
